
Ivan Plavec, Ph.D., Vice President,
Technology and Alliances
Dr. Plavec is responsible for strategic technology development and corporate alliances at BioSeek. Dr. Plavec joined BioSeek in November 2000 and played a key role in the early development of the company's proprietary BioMAP® Systems. He brings sixteen years of experience in research, management and strategic planning from his various positions at biotech and pharmaceutical companies in Europe and in the U.S., including Systemix Inc., Novartis Pharmaceuticals, Sandoz Research Institute in Vienna, Austria, and the European Laboratory for Biotechnology in Paris, France. His most recent position prior to joining BioSeek was as Director of Research at Systemix/Novartis, where he was involved in the preclinical and clinical development of the gene therapy protocol for the treatment of HIV disease. He also served as a member of the competitive assessment and strategic planning team. Dr. Plavec received his Ph.D. in molecular biology from the University of Zurich, Switzerland. He has authored numerous publications in peer-reviewed journals and holds patents in the areas of monoclonal antibody development, gene therapy, and systems biology.
